The tree isn't just "blood" relatives. Starting from the Prime, the tree expands outward to include spouses, their siblings, and descendants of everyone included — so the chart reflects the full family network, not just a single bloodline. This means you'll see maiden names, married-in families, and sometimes surnames that seem unrelated to the Prime at first glance.
Tree size controls how many people appear. Levels start with immediate family: the person, their spouse(s), parents, children, and siblings; as you increase, grandparents, grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews are added, then great-grandparents and great-grandchildren, and so on. Spouses are always included at every level.
Family Lines (shown after everyone is placed in a tree) highlight everyone in the tree who belongs to a particular family line. Click a family line button to light up all its members across the tree. Click again to clear. Only one line can be active at a time.
Re-priming — once all people are placed, you can redraw the entire tree with any person as the new Prime. Set the On click toggle in the header to Set as Prime, then click any name in the tree to recentre it on that person at the same tree size.
Need a little help? Double-click (or double-tap) any name in the People to Place list to drop them automatically into their correct spot. Or if you'd rather skip straight to exploring the completed tree — use the Place All button at the bottom of the list to fill everyone in at once and jump straight to Family Lines and re-priming.
